Sometimes your Chromebook will not turn on when you open the lid. This can be due to a couple of reasons but most times your Chromebook will start after trying the following:
1. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds with the charger unplugged.
2. Plug in the charger and let the Chromebook charge for about 5-10 minutes. The charging indicator light should light up next to the charging port. Please note that some Chromebooks have two power connections (one of each side), please try both until you see an indicator light.
3. Try pushing the power button to turn the device back on.
